Each month, Adult AI platform Soulkyn releases a new contest theme “designed to push the limits of our community’s creativity,” as Soulkyn’s Knox puts it. The rules for the contest are straightforward: “read the prompt, interpret it through your own unique lens and create a custom AI character inspired by” that month’s theme.
The latest of these themes, announced today, is “Misery Loves Company.”
“These are the broken kyns, the ones who sit quietly by the window, waiting for someone who will never return,” Knox explained in a blog post announcing this month’s contest. “They are the sorrowful, the broken and the beautiful. Your task is to create an AI companion that has been shaped by misery. Someone scarred by all they have endured. A damaged soul that is desperate for company.”
Per the announcement, Soulkyn offers users five ways to create custom AI characters: “Create, Create with AI, Spin the Wheel, Import and Breed.”
“With our advanced technology, you’ll have everything you need to bring your original idea to life, Knox wrote.
Expounding on what the platform is looking for from contest entries, Knox wrote that this is “your chance to create an AI companion that ventures beyond a simple backstory.”
“What caused your character’s suffering? Who abandoned them and how has that grief, compounded by loneliness, distorted them? Maybe your character is cursed with immortality, forced to watch everyone they ever loved go to their graves,” Knox suggested. “Perhaps they are a ghost, trapped forever in the house they lived in with their long-deceased family. Or maybe they feed on sorrow because that is all they have ever known.”
Knox added that Soulkyn wants “to see an AI character with personality, not just a backstory.”
“Whatever character you create, they should have a story behind their despair and a reason they might let someone in,” Knox wrote. “Need some inspiration? Check out Soulkyn’s advanced character creation guide to help you create your best character yet.”
The contest also encourages users to “build the world around” their AI character creations.
“This month’s contest has no fixed setting,” Knox observed. “We’ve left it up to you to decide what kind of domain your haunted character wanders. It can be a dark, damp castle or the winding stairs of an abandoned lighthouse. When it comes to the backdrop of your AI roleplay, the lonelier, the better.”
