NEW YORK, N.Y. – The publishers of SCREW Magazine have announced the launch of “ALVIN,” described as “a purpose-built television browser and streaming device designed to bring adult entertainment back to the biggest screen in the house.”
According to the announcement, ALVIN was developed by SCREW publisher Phil Autelitano as “an alternative to the restrictions imposed by mainstream streaming platforms, including Roku’s removal of adult channels.”
“In 2022, Roku made the decision to ban adult content from its platform, putting an end to SCREW TV, so I decided then and there to build something that didn’t need their permission,” Autelitano said. “Adult content is legal, people want to watch it on television — still the biggest and best screen in the house — and ALVIN was built to make that simple again.”
As described in the announcement, ALVIN “connects directly to a television and provides access to hundreds of hours of free adult content, with additional libraries available through participating premium subscription services.”
SCREW added that the platform also “supports live cam shows with chat and interactive features, access to participating online gambling services including poker, slots and casino-style games, and My Media, which allows users to bring their own compatible content through USB and supported downloads.”
SCREW explained that the system is controlled through ALVIN’s own “Type&Swipe” phone remote app, enabling users to “browse, type, scroll and control the experience from their smartphone without traditional casting or screen mirroring.”
“ALVIN isn’t another app trying to squeeze into somebody else’s ecosystem,” Autelitano added. “It’s its own device, built specifically for adults.”
According to the ALVIN website, the device retails for $149. The ALVIN box weighs in at only 5.2 ounces, measuring a compact 3.94” long x 2.36” wide x 1.57” high.
