Mainstream Work Denied to Yet Another Adult Performer
LIEGE, BELGIUM — In spite of all the self-righteous blahblah from supposedly respectable individuals keen to lecture adult entertainment performers about how they should mend their ways and get mainstream work, the world of mainstream work continues to refuse to cooperate. The latest case in point can be found in Belgium, where a popular bus driver is facing the likelihood of being fired — because she is also Miss Nude Belgium 2009.Although the 24-year-old women’s employer agrees that the woman, known only in articles as Audrey, is the company’s most popular driver. However, it simply can not handle the fact that she not only has the ability to drive people safely around the city in a bus but also remove her garments in a comely fashion in front of an audience.
Job performance for the newbie driver is not an issue, apparently. Photos on the internet, however, are.
After successfully finishing a six week course to become a city of Liege bus driver for TEC, Audrey took her place behind the wheel, only to have company executives find Miss Nude Belgium 2009 photos of her online.
“I was hauled before the director of human resources,” she explained to one media source, “and he asked me to choose between my erotic career and my new career on the buses.”
Headlines insist that Audrey is a “porn star,” although no information supporting those claims appears available. Nonetheless, Audrey says that the director of human resources informed her that she would not be allowed to continue her “nocturnal activities” if she wants to drive a bus and that he would be required to sign a form promising not to pose for any more nude photos.
Audrey admits to being confused about the hubbub, stating that “I enjoy my erotic work, but the contracts are not worth very much.”
Since money is king in the world of the working class, Audrey confessed sadly that “Although this work is my passion, I need to have a job which pays the bills.”
While a sad loss for those who have admired Audrey in her natural glory, the pragmatic decision is also a loss for the rookie driver, who says she has always wanted to be a bus driver, “as I’m very sociable. I like the contact with people and I don’t see why an erotic career is incompatible with my day job.”
Alas for sanity, the management of TEC sees otherwise.
