HOLLYWOOD, Calif. – Don’t panic, but the latest thing to escape the Hentaied Universe has been revealed – the imprint’s fourth full-motion video game (FMV), Embrace of the Estate, starring the lovely Valentina Nappi and Clemence Audiard.
Directed by Hentaied’s head honcho, Romero Mr. Alien, Embrace of the Estate is described in the release announcement as “a horror-fantasy FMV game/interactive film where the viewer plays Valentina Nappi’s character and must go to the estate to free her friend Clémence Audiard from a tentacle-infested house.”
The release announcement sets the scene: “Valentina is risking everything to save her friend. But is there something much more sinister going on? You have to play to find out.”
I’m not so certain it’s true we have to play the game to find out if something more sinister is going on.
Among other things, as someone who has written dozens of posts about the goings-on within the Hentaied Universe, I can tell you with immense confidence that going inside an estate located within the HU is never a good idea. But just like horror movies, horror games need their judgment-impaired protagonist, lest the whole story play out without anyone getting disemboweled, beheaded or transformed into a gruesome (and usually quite horny) creature.
“In the game, you can search the house room by room, solve puzzles, reach the part where Clémence is trapped, and take control of the tentacle action as they fight (choosing the position, pace, and how the scenes play out),” the release announcement added. “Players must survive each room to stay alive. You resist the tentacles or become their plaything.”
Yeah, that sure sounds like the Hentaied Universe to me, especially the part about becoming the tentacles’ plaything. This is precisely why when I go on vacation, endeavor to save a damsel in distress or go on a vampire hunt, I generally stick to the west coast of Mexico.
“We had a Discord Q&A for two hours last week to chat about it,” Romero revealed. “The interactive film will make you feel like you’re in the director’s seat. This is our most ambitious game yet, but it’s really more like a choose-your-own-adventure film. And it’s blowing people’s minds.”
