Seems like a dumb question right? Many of us “want” to take pictures of nude models. The question should be “how” do I take nude photos? I will tell you how. I will list out the important things to start, and I will try not to be a big downer. If you wish to make a big financial mistake feel free to do so, but, I will give you a little background as to who I am and why I know of what I speak.

I am the photographer/webmaster/owner for www.rockbottomcontent.com. I have been producing content for my own site and other content providers on the Internet for almost three years now, and I have been near bankruptcy and back again several times. I didn’t get the help I’m about to offer you, and I made some incredible errors, so I can tell you what I have learned from my own experience. As you read this, I will delve deeper into the kind of disaster my career has been at times. You will get a glimpse of some of the most stupid moves known to Internet porn and see how I still came out of it. Get started the right way, and avoid the stupid-ass mistakes and problems I caused for myself. Let’s start off with equipment.

I am a photographer and thought I could take pictures and develop them cheaply. Well, if I wanted to stay in a darkroom for days and use a machine that wastes all of your savings and the time of developing your photos at home, then I had a master plan. Go digital! It’s cheaper and much easier to process. You can start off small like a Nikon or Olympus and move up into SLR cameras that give you really good results, but a larger room for error.

It might help if you learned how to take pictures properly too. It is not easy to get the homemade feel you are going for without knowing what to do with lighting. I could go on and on with the mistakes many people make here. I made some huge mistakes in my past, like using film for my first shoot and then realizing that 100 images would take me two weeks to develop, proof and then fix, and then another week to scan and finish.

Another mistake was buying a $100.00 mediocre photo quality scanner to scan my images, not realizing that the color always got fucked up and it took forever to fix. So I bought a $750 SONT FD83, shot six more girls, and now I was out $2,500 with no return income to speak of. Yeah looking at pussy was great but I wasn’t getting at all what I had expected or wanted out of it.

Which brings me to finding models. I had some friends who got me models from a now defunct live site to be my first nude shoots. They, in turn, got me a few more models but I needed more. So I turned to two resources: strip joints and college / alternative newspapers. First off, strip joints are very difficult. The model wants a lot of money and will not show up on the shoot day if she made real good money the night before. But if they do show up you do get a lot for your money. They know how to move and they know what the moneymaker is, and they will show it off every chance they get.

Second are the college / alternative newspapers. This is the best way to get never before seen or shot models. I like this route much better. It’s cheaper, you get a lot of good niche content and sometimes you get a diamond in the rough. My ads read just like this: “wanted: models for professional photo shoot, all ages and sizes welcome – call for details” along with a 24-hour hotline number. I would get 15-20 calls per week. About five women would show up for the interview and one or two would come to the actual photo shoot. Still, it was the best way to get good unique content.

For me, strippers go for $200 to $400 a shoot. You have to pay that much or more if you want them to show up for the shoot. If you go to a lower end strip joint, the models might work for about $150.00. Keep in mind that is really on a per hour basis, but I try not to keep them there for longer than that. The models from the newspaper ads go for approximately $75 – $100 per hour and often never notice the time.

You are well advised to be honest with your models. It’s the best thing to do in the industry. As with anything you do, stay away from the kind of attention you do not need. Know who your friends are, and don’t step on anyone’s toes. Through mutual help and honesty, the money will be better in the long run. Trust me on that.

So in conclusion, you definitely have to have money in the bank, a lot of time and a lot of luck. Don’t go into this thinking that it will be cheap and easy. I have made some mistakes that I paid for over time, and I would be a lot further along if I knew then what I know now. You wanted to get rich at this? Well, you better plan to work like you thought only a boss could drive your ass to do. And then you need to wait a little, work some more, and all the while hope for the best. If you have ample start-up money for this profession (about $20K) you may be able to make it quicker and live more comfortably. I started with $7K and the climb has been that much harder. I thought I would have been rich over two years ago, when I decided to actually take this much more seriously. When I started to really work at it, I spent 70 – 100 hours per week every week. Then I started to see some return on my investment. It’s no different then any other business. You are the boss, and when it comes down to it, you have no one to fall back on. You are responsible for everything, as no one cares about your business as much as you do.
