You have to truly care about your customers and the site that you design. If you’re a newbie and you’re in it just to make money, then the adult business isn’t for you.
You need to be able to take risks and learn from them. You also need to become “obsessed” with your site and examine every detail and aspect about it. You need to look at your site and critique it from a surfer’s perspective. You should always be asking yourself what you can offer the surfer that is different than all the other adult sites out there. Give your surfers a reason to come to your site, stay there, and return frequently.
A lot of new sites I’m seeing are putting quantity over quality. Don’t fall for this trap! You need to build a site that will appeal to the adult consumer that will in turn give the consumer a reason to bookmark and come back to your site generating a steady traffic source. If you’ve ever read about highly successful people such as Bill Gates, Mark Cuban, or Donald Trump, you’ll realize that they all succeeded by taking risks. All it takes is one good idea! Anyone can turn an idea into a pot of gold if you are willing to learn and take risks; especially in a high risk – high reward industry such as ours.
I’ve found that taking risks is exciting when you’re not quite sure whether your idea will work or not, but if you believe in yourself you are that much closer to making your dreams come true. Learn to adapt to change – change is all about learning new things and taking risks. Become obsessed with your niche in the adult business, whether it’s running free sites, AVS sites, TGPs or whatever services you provide, be it for surfers or Webmasters.
There is a lot of what I call “hopefuls” out there who just need that extra push to spark their dreams or to chase their goals. Hopefuls tend to constantly think about what they want to do, without actually acting upon it. The key is action and reaction. You need to act upon your instincts, desires, goals, and dreams and never let up.
My biggest source of inspiration has been the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. If you’re a hopeful who needs that extra kick, you should buy this book! Buy the action pack version that includes a step-by-step guide to fulfilling all your goals.
I’m also finding that to succeed in this business you need to able to ask questions. Asking questions is important as it is part of the learning process. Don’t think you can learn everything just from reading articles. You need input from experienced adult Webmasters as well. The advice that some will give you is priceless. Think of their advice as constructive criticism. If you act upon it, it can and will save you a lot of headaches in the long run.
Remember that you’ll get out what you put into this business. Don’t expect to make a fortune right off the bat, but aim high and have realistic goals. Be unique and stand out from all the other adult sites out there.
And once again… take risks! If you fail, then try again and don’t ever give up on your goals, for he who never tries, never fails.
