MONTREAL – Nutaku.net has announced it’s restocked its highly sought-after Hentai Hot Sauce.

The 18+ online gaming platform released the sauce in May, 2019. It was an overwhelming success and even outsold “Hot Ones'” hottest hot sauce — The Last Dab Reduxx — by 1,500 units. For those not in the hot sauce know, here’s why this is interesting…

“Hot Ones” is a web series created by Christopher Schonberger and produced by First We Feast and Complex Media. It involves celebrities being interviewed by host Sean Evans over a platter of increasingly spicy chicken wings.

According to Digiday.com, in June of last year, Complex and First We Feast released two new hot sauces featured in the series. One of the sauces — The Last Dab Reduxx — is made with Pepper X, the hottest pepper in the world, and is reserved for guests who can make it to the final chicken wing. Complex and First We Feast made 1,000 bottles of the sauce available for sale — and promptly sold out in less than an hour. Soon after, bottles started showing up on eBay at marked up prices.

Something similar happened with Nutaku’s Hentai Hot Sauce — only, rather than selling 1,000 units in an hour, they sold 2,500. As a result, the gaming portal is restocking their virtual shelves with a second batch, giving fans who missed the first launch a second chance to grab their own libido-amplifying hot sauce.

“We didn’t realize how popular Hentai Hot Sauce would be. The limited-edition hot sauce sold out in minutes after launching in early May,” said Julie Hall, Communications Manager at Nutaku.

“Texas seemed to be the most hyped about Hentai Hot Sauce, having purchased 640 bottles, followed by California at 620 bottles and Illinois at 270 bottles. We really didn’t anticipate it would be this popular, but we’re excited to announce that it’s now back in stock for our fans,” Hall added.

The Scoville Scale and Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) were named for scientist Wilbur Scoville in 1912. The scale is used to measure a pepper’s pungency and heat based on the concentration of capsaicinoids contained therein. Created out of Ghost Peppers (1,020,000 – 1,578,000 SHU) and Carolina Reapers (1,200,000 – 2,100,000 SHU), Hentai Hot Sauce is pretty damn spicy. (For comparison, a jalapeño has an SHU range of 2,500 – 8,000.)

On an even broader level, Nutaku’s success here point to many possibilities for adult companies to capitalize on “mainstream” branded merchandise.
