In a statement issued Thursday, adult pleasure product and sex tech development brand Lovense revealed the company has “has initiated legal proceedings against unauthorized use of its proprietary technology and designs,” stating that those proceedings “have already produced early results” as “distributors in the United States have voluntarily ceased sales of infringing products and entered into compliance agreements with Lovense.”
“The modern intimacy industry’s growth marked by a flourishing of brands, ideas, and consumer experiences — reflects a shared pursuit of innovation,” the statement said. “Lovense, a global brand in intelligent intimacy technology, respects and recognizes the contributions of peers who advance the field through genuine technological progress. However, when intellectual property is deliberately misappropriated, Lovense will act.”
The company added that the compliance agreements “signal more than the resolution of individual disputes.”
“They demonstrate a growing recognition within the industry that legal boundaries around intellectual property are real and enforceable — and that companies investing in original research and development deserve protection,” the company said.
“Every act of IP enforcement is not just about defending one company,” said Dan Liu, CEO of Lovense. “It is about upholding transparency, integrity, and the consumer experience across the entire industry. We refuse to overlook infringement simply because an offending party is small. The principle matters more than the scale.”
In the statement, Lovense also issued what it called “a direct call to fellow innovators in the intimacy technology space,” encouraging their peers to “invest in building strong intellectual property protections.”
“Patents, trademarks, and design rights are not bureaucratic formalities,” Lovense said, “they are the foundation of a fair competitive environment that rewards those who create rather than those who copy.”
Lovense added that the company will “continue to pursue all appropriate legal channels to defend its rights globally and encouraged other brands facing similar challenges to do the same.”
