FSC Health and Safety Manual Provides Essential OSHA Advice
CANOGA PARK, CA — Once upon a time, the wild world of professional pornography was filled without outlaws and rugged individuals who shot footage wherever they could, often disregarding laws and reveling in their success at doing so. Good, bad, or indifferent, those days are gone. Along with taxation, complex record keeping requirements and STD testing comes responsibility – and becoming aware of OSHA workplace safety standards is one of those not particularly sexy responsibilities. With word on the street increasingly suggesting that an OSHA crackdown on adult video shoots may be on the horizon, the Free Speech Coalition has released its Health and Safety Manual.
Developed by WCO Safety Services, which has earned praise from attorney Paul Cambria, AIM director Dr. Sharon Mitchell and FSC executive director Diane Duke, the first-ever industry manual of its kind will be an essential resource for business owners both large and small.
According to an FSC press release, members are eligible for a free copy of the manual, which will assist them in bringing their workplaces into OSHA compliance. Non-members may purchase the manual for $25.
Available in hardcopy, PDF and Zinio formats, WCO founder Jeffrey DeSormeau has packed the manual with useful information drawn from years of experience in OSHA compliance and workspace safety.
Included in the manual is information about handling of equipment and OSHA record-keeping requirements in addition to first aid procedures and regulations regarding the handling of blood-borne pathogens.
DeSormeau explains in an FSC press release on the subject that, depending upon the severity of the issue, companies found to be out of compliance with OSHA standards can expect to receive citations ranging from “other than serious” to “willful” and including fines up to $20,000.
By acting upon the recommendations made within the Health and Safety Manual, including having a written health and safety program, DeSormeau believes that adult businesses will be better able to achieve OSHA compliance and be able to go about their work. The manual covers all aspects of the industry, with information available concerning the handling of blood borne pathogens as well as the proper placement of ladders and handling of electrical equipment.
