When YNOTnews.com approached me about writing this article for their publication I accepted immediately. Now that I’m sitting in front of my blank Word document, I’m asking myself how to express my opinions as clearly and concisely as possible. Let me start with an anecdote:
Once upon a time there was a city street zoned for adult entertainment, where clubs prospered and customers were plenty. Over the years, more and more clubs opened, competing for a piece of the pie. One day, a club owner by the name of Bruno got an idea that if he put a dancer in front of his club, she could work the door and attract more customers. This seemed successful and for a while things were good. Soon, other clubs started to follow suit and pretty soon competition was again fierce. Bruno was smart, though, and soon had his girl outside go topless and things picked up again slightly for a while. The local police were not terribly concerned about the topless girl, as they were kept busy patrolling the street outside where crowds were beginning to form. As many of the clubs started this trend, Bruno had her girl go naked, and soon after he was running girl/girl shows on his doorstep. Eventually, all the clubs were doing this and the owners were all sitting around with no one in their clubs, wondering why the streets had attracted such a large crowd, but no one was paying the cover to come inside.
The amateur niche has been walking down this path for a long time now. We’ve been showing more and more and getting more extreme in our FREE areas, and while traffic is as good or stronger than it has ever been, less people are buying. We’re all complaining that sales are down, yet we can’t see the obvious causes right in front of our faces.
Do you know the ironic ending to Bruno and his gang? Not only did they run themselves out of business, but now they’re all sharing a jail cell as well. When the police finally worked their way past the crowd and realized what was going on, they pressed charges against many of the clubs. Shortly thereafter, the city rezoned the whole street, thereby putting everyone out of business, even the guys that didn’t follow Bruno’s ways.
If you haven’t caught on, I’m trying to say that the amateur community is giving the farm away, ruining their own sales and taking unnecessary legal risks. These trends in the amateur community impact all of us. Free tours should be designed to attract customers, not a crowd of free loaders. And in an industry full of risks, why take unnecessary ones? With that said, the question now becomes: What do we do about it?
I’ll tell you what I am doing about it. I’ve spent most of the last week reviewing and editing all of my sites. I’m editing or removing genital close-ups, genital contact by a partner, any penetration and cum/urine shots. Next, I’m going to announce to all those I currently trade links with that I will no longer be promoting sites that show this type of material in their freely accessible pages. I will allow a week or so for those that wish to make this move with me to make changes to their sites and then I will begin reviewing my links. Lastly, I will ask all those who understand and agree with what I am doing to implement similar policies on their own link trades. Acting together, we can clean up the content that is now freely accessible in amateur tours, limit our legal liabilities and increase sales for the market as a whole.
