PLAYA DEL REY, Calif. – Forward Approach Marketing founder Adella has announced the launch of a new e-commerce platform, IntimacyRehab.com. According to the launch announcement, what sets IntimacyRehab.com apart from other adult sites is its focus on “intimate occupational therapy, with a mission to restore pleasure as a valid, supported part of healing and whole-person health through education, adaptive tools and stigma-free conversation.”
“Someone born with cerebral palsy may have spent a lifetime rarely seeing their sexuality acknowledged,” the announcement noted. “Someone adjusting to a spinal cord injury or paralysis may suddenly be navigating questions about intimacy or sensation with very few places to turn. Too often, disabled people are left out of conversations about sexuality altogether.”
Adella said there is “this whole intersection of shame around disability and sexuality, and when you put the two together, hardly anyone is talking about it.”
“There isn’t one place where people can find resources, hear stories from people with different lived experiences, explore products without judgment and simply have it acknowledged that all bodies are inherently sexual and deserve intimate pleasure,” Adella added.
The launch announcement explained that Intimacy Rehab was “created for people whose relationship with intimacy has been shaped by disability, illness, injury, aging or medical treatment, many of whom face the same challenge when looking for support: What happens when a customer knows what they are struggling with, but has no idea what pleasure product solutions might exist?”
“Traditional adult retail often assumes shoppers already know the product categories, terminology and type of product they need,” the announcement observed. “For someone navigating disability, changes in mobility, sensation or discomfort, or other physical barriers to intimacy, that can create another barrier. Intimacy Rehab removes some of that friction by organizing products around function and experience, including comfort and pain reduction, mobility and reach support, positioning, reduced sensation, hormonal changes, chronic pain, aging and recovery after surgery. Instead of requiring customers to already know what type of product they need, Intimacy Rehab allows them to begin with what they are experiencing.”
Helping people find the right product is “only part of the work,” the announcement added.
“Intimacy Rehab is designed to be a place where people can find practical support, education and lived experiences without treating disability, illness or physical challenges as something that removes sexuality from the conversation.”
