Whose Hollywood Deep Throat Will Portray Linda Lovelace?

LOS ANGELES, CA — Porn must be going mainstream because the mainstream keeps producing porn-themed motion pictures, even if it prefers to avoid working with too many actual porn stars while doing so. The latest topic to enjoy Hollywood’s velvet touch will be controversial porn pioneer, Linda Lovelace.Although previous, marginally-Lovelace-look-alike candidates including Angelina Jolie, Meg Ryan, and Anna Faris have turned down the opportunity to portray the seminal performer, various industry gossip sources insist that Rose McGowan is now “in talks to play porn star Linda Lovelace.”

The project, entitled Inferno, is said to be a biopic about the woman named Linda Boreman by her parents but most well-known both during and after her porn days, as Linda Lovelace. Most famous for her performance in the 1972 explicit erotic comedy Deep Throat, Boreman also gained infamy for later recanting her participation in the role and accusing then-husband and director, Chuck Traynor, of forcing her to participate at gun point. Traynor denies the claim.

Her 1980 autobiography, Ordeal has been largely panned by those who knew her at the time, pointing out that during filming she insisted that she “loved it, every minute of it.”

After embracing a form of anti-sex work feminism, Boreman became an anti-porn activist and insisted that the fact the $600 million grossing film was still being shown was a “crime.”

Boreman was 53 when she died from injuries sustained in a car wreck in 2002, during a time when her anti-porn views were said by some to have been decreasing.
