In an era and industry dedicated to ever increasing attention to detail, perhaps he shouldn’t have been.When the popular cam site first introduced its new widescreen, high definition chat rooms, the intent was to incorporate the new technology gradually, allowing users already possessing appropriate viewing equipment to migrate, eventually encouraging others to upgrade and join in on the increasingly interactive good times. Unlike pre-recorded HD, the format used on LiveCamNetwork is made specifically for live, online interactive video. According to Prince, the 2Much Internet Services software is “the most advanced live video on the web.”
Tested on the LiveCamNetwork site less than two months ago, it has handled special events including a nude light saber fight as part of the science fiction trivia drinking game Nude Light Sabre Duel, as well as the chat hostess interview program The Luna Show. Essentially a tweaked Windows Media Player with beefier back-end delivery and servers, LiveCamNetwork has been the first site to combine the elements into a hyper functional package that’s ready to support all manner of visual markets. The site has also seen profits increase since the hi-def chat rooms were launched.
“People are jaded now by the state of the art in live video,” Prince observes. “We have to give them something new. Choppy silent video doesn’t cut it anymore. Everyone expects the standard screen format and smooth video. So we’re here to blow their minds all over again.”
Experimenting with the new high-def software is a natural extension of the site’s willingness to play with new technology. Prince says that LiveCamNetwork was the first adult chat site on the web to take advantage of DSL/broadband speeds, so running video at 30-frames-per-second is a natural step. The software doesn’t just move images quickly, however, it also handles high quality48 Kbz Dolby Surround 5.1 stereo feeds, which means chat participants can plug in their microphones and communicate their sexy messages with the kind of warmth and “closeness” that a room visitor can truly appreciate.
