Having won adult fan awards, MILF blonde bombshell Vicky Vette has just captured the non-adult fan title of Miss MySpace USA for March 2008. The star of www.VickyAtHome.com won despite stiff competition from other hot models; all of whom use MySpace and were thus eligible to submit PG-level photos for fan consideration.YNOT: What was this MySpace contest about and why did you enter it?
Vicky: Well, I was lucky enough to have won the Miss Booble competition in February 2008, and someone I knew thought it would be funny if I ran in a contest where the other contestants were models… “could Vicky Vette win a contest with my clothes on?” There were something like 1500 models, so I really did not expect much, but I guess I underestimated the amount of support that I had from my fan base.
The profile was put up in late February and I ended up in the Top 5 so I decided “What the heck,” put in a full month and see if I could finish “Number 1, with my Clothes On.”
YNOT: How stiff was the competition? How big was your win?
Vicky: I actually was shocked just how tough the other models were. The contest does not have a prize other than internet exposure but, without naming names, the girls were pretty fierce… so fierce that at least one of the models complained to MissMySpaceUSA that I should not be allowed to run.
In the middle of the night I was suddenly deleted even though I was in first. Luckily, my fans got really involved, complained bitterly, and the organizers put me back into the competition. Funny, so much drama for a non-porn competition.
One of the other contestants even started advertising that I was nothing more than a blow-up doll. Little did she know that my fans not only love blow up dolls but also vote for Vicky Vette. It actually worked out pretty great since they started calling themselves the Vette Nation Army or “VNA,” and so I started promoting VickyAtHome as that. The response has been great all over the net and I have completely changed how I do promoting.
YNOT: Why is it important to gain attention in a non-adult space?
Vicky: I run a World Wide Website that is highly interactive. If you join my site, you are going to be interacting with me through webcams, instant messaging, private messaging, and the best damn members-only paysite board on the net.
People in “non-adult” websites watch porn just as much as other folks. Just by being involved, running, posting bulletins on MySpace etc, I ended up meeting tons of great people all over the world who not only ended up Myspace friends but also VickyAtHome members. If some guy from Quebec or New Zealand goes to that site and sees “Vicky Vette” winning AND answering his messages, then that person is pulling for you before they even think about joining a site.
If you can have a presence in a competition like that, then all the folks at work can surf a “non-porn site,” see a porn star, vote for you, and not have to worry about being fired. It is a great way of building up a following. I also see it as my job to put a professional face on the porn industry.
YNOT: What impact do you hope this win will have on your career?
Vicky: That is hard to say. I am just happy to be still relevant and trying new things at 42. After 150 scenes, it gets harder to reinvent the wheel. Amazingly though, this year has been the biggest ever for VickyAtHome with the creation of the Vette Nation, new promotions, new videos, and an entirely different way of promoting. Keeping it in-house is the most important; I doubt Jenna Jameson was on the Net responding to mail — I do.
In March we just set the highest hits ever for the website and I really put that down to me having a new lease on life with the internet and social networking. It has been a couple of years since I shot a “mainstream” porn, but I am having a blast trying new concepts, seeing what works, and just how incredibly huge the world is. There are people all over the world who now are familiar with me, who would have been terrified to go into a DVD store to buy a DVD, but feel ok connecting over the Internet.
YNOT: Are you planning to enter other non-adult contests?
Vicky: Well, winning competitions with my bra on is fun, but winning competitions with my bra off is easier… We shall see. If the competition is funny and entertaining for the Vette Nation fans, I will think about it. Someone needs to have a competition for “Best Girl Who Takes Cumshots Up Her Nose.” Or is there already an AVN for that?
