Popular social site UNLOCKD reveals that its adult-friendly fan platform has been reaping the substantial benefits of OnlyFans’ recent pronouncement – and subsequent reversal – of its decision to remove explicit content from its service with more than 100,000 new creator signups in less than a month.
“We became aware of OnlyFans’ pending announcement on August 19th around 7pm, and immediately tweeted that anyone affected could join UNLOCKD with reduced fees for six months as a gesture of goodwill and welcome gift from us,” said a company representative. “Within one hour, we had received over 150 DMs from creators asking how to register – despite news from OnlyFans still being up in the air.”
By the next day, UNLOCKD had seen substantial growth in membership numbers, reaching historical records in both creator and user on boarding. “Once the OnlyFans news was officially announced on Twitter, our registrations went through the roof! We processed over 2,000 new registrations every hour and recruited an additional 30-plus staff to manage the process, which went from an average approval time of 30-60 minutes to under 5 minutes per sign up.”
“We calculated that we received nearly 25,000 Twitter DMs in the five days following OnlyFans’ announcement, and increased the size of our development team to help manage the massive load on the servers in order to speed up our feature development & upgrades, and still managed to release 4 new features despite the surge in traffic and associated issues that this brought with it.”
