Translating the Language of Sex Toys

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – The World Wide Web is an international medium, presenting both benefits and challenges for online merchants. Many have discovered that overcoming language and currency barriers is essential for healthy sales.

That’s why Sex Toy Distributing added a translation feature to its website as a part of a recent remodeling. According to a spokesperson for the company, more than 20 percent of the customers who visit SexToyDistributing.com come from countries where the primary language isn’t English. To ease ordering and other interactions for these customers, the website now may be translated into 11 other languages.

Foreign-language customers may select from a series of language options presented in a user-friendly drop-down menu. With the click of the mouse, the entire website — including product descriptions and specifications — is re-rendered in the selected language.

“We have many international clients, and this translation function welcomes even more by eliminating the language barrier,” Wholesale Manager [email=beth@sextoydistributing.com]Beth Brown[/email] said. “And our foreign-language clients can better market these products to their target demographics by using our pre-translated product descriptions and specifications. It’s a win-win situation.”

Brown said Spanish is the language most commonly translated, which makes sense when one considers that Central and South America are among the company’s fastest-growing markets.

The website overhaul also installed other helpful features, including a new-and-improved inventory management system that provides instant updates about the 3,500 products the company stocks via a live data feed.
