LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Adult performer Tommy Gunn has collaborated with award-winning filmmaker Joel Van der Molen on Fans Only: The Human Side of Porn, a new documentary that “pulls back the curtain on the adult industry,” according to the release announcement.
Featuring “honest, raw stories” from performers and industry figures like Alexis Texas, Cherie DeVille, Emma Hix, Alexis Fawx, Danny Mountain, James Bartholet and Holly Randall, the filmmakers said the 70-minute film “gives a real look at the lives of performers and the people working behind the scenes.”
According to the release announcement, the documentary “dives into the two sides of the industry—the fun, open, and supportive community, alongside the tougher realities that don’t always make it to the surface.”
“Through heartfelt interviews, it sheds light on challenges like stigma, mental and physical health struggles, and juggling busy shooting schedules with family life and the pressures of social media,” the filmmakers added. “It’s an authentic, eye-opening look at the people behind the performances.”
Gunn called making the documentary with Van der Molen “a terrific experience.”
“We took a lot of time to really try and get the whole picture, in an objective way, and I think it works,” Gunn added. “It’s an honest look inside our industry, and I’m proud to be a part of it.”
The documentary includes insights about the industry from insiders like Peter Warren, Dan Miller, and Brah Bones, among others, “giving viewers a deeper look at how the industry works and the challenges its members face.” The filmmakers added that the documentary “dives into topics like gender health, the pressures of platforms like OnlyFans, and the stigma society still holds.”
Van der Molen, whose award-winning Gypsy Billionaire documentary previously reached the #1 spot on Amazon Prime, said the new documentary “was something I had wanted to do for a long time.”
“Once I met up with Tommy and sorted all the details, the film took on a life of its own, leading us in directions I hadn’t dreamt of,” Van der Molen said. “I’m excited for people, industry-related and otherwise, to see what we put together. It’s real and it’s honest. I’m thrilled with everyone’s contributions and the final product we have!”
