Thumbnail Ads: More Revenue, Less User Aggravation

TAMPA BAY, Fla. – A new thumbnail ad placement tool one content-leasing company has added may help webmasters increase revenues by unobtrusively embedding ads within content layouts instead of at the top, bottom, or sides of pages.

“Most companies find ads placed at the top or bottom of pages are easy to ignore in sites loaded with adult content, so this is an opportunity for companies to move their ads right next to the content,” according to AndyA, founder and chief executive officer for Webmaster Central, the content-leasing firm.

The new tool allows webmasters to replace some of their video preview thumbs with banner ads of the same size and shape. The tactic keeps users from “looking past” advertisements. Unlike pop-ups and other attempts to get around the problem, the thumbnail ads don’t obscure content or interfere with navigation.

“Our clients keep 100 percent of the revenue they generate from these ads,” AndyA said. “They don’t have to share a percentage with us or anyone else.”

He also said there are nearly limitless applications for advertising tool.

“Clients can use the new tool to place ads for live shows, special offers, dating services — really, whatever they’d like to promote to their customer base,” he explained. “We’re simply adding additional value without increasing costs or jacking a portion of our clients’ revenue.”
