STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN – Officials from Swedish public television station SVT say they are “shocked and upset” over the accidental airing of hardcore pornography during Saturday night’s broadcast of the news program Rapport.During an hourly news update at midnight local time, viewers could see explicit sex scenes from the Czech porn movie Sex Tails playing on a monitor in the background, just above the shoulder of anchorman Peter Dahlgren.

According to SVT news director Per Yng, SVT staff members had watched a sports event on the same monitor earlier in the evening on the cable channel Canal Plus, a station that often shows pornographic films after midnight, and had forgotten to change the channel after the sports event ended.

“I found out that sort of crap happened when I called the editorial staff,” Yng told Swedish tabloid Expressen. “This is unbelievable. If you decide to watch Rapport you shouldn’t have to watch some stupid hard core porn film.”

An SVT producer spotted the out-of-place anal, oral, and group sex taking place in the background of Dahlgren’s report and Yng rushed into the control room and shut off the monitor, he said.

“This is highly embarrassing and unfortunate,” Yng said. “It must not happen again.”

Yng added that there had been no complaints from SVT viewers about the incident, but there had been “enormous interest from media.”

“It is incredible that nobody working noticed this,” said Magnus Akerlund, who oversees SVT’s hourly news updates. “It’s a huge blunder by us.”

When asked if SVT saw the incident as a laughable goof, Akerlund replied “No, this is serious.”

“I am shocked and upset,” Akerlund said. “It is crazy.”
