EL DORADO, KS —After a mainstream media blitz hyping the victim’s brief time working in the adult internet, the suspected murderer of Butler Community College student and newbie sologirl Emily Sander was apprehended and arrested today in Melchor Muzquiz, Mexico. Although still obsessed by the so-called “secret” or “double life” that 18-year-old Sander’s allegedly led prior to her brutal murder, multiple media sources including the Associated Press report that Israel Mirales, who was believed to have fled to Mexico, was taken into custody today on a homicide warrant from Butler County, KS. He now awaits extradition to the United States.

Sander, who has repeatedly been described as a “porn star” and “porn actress” in spite of her mere 2.5 months as a sologirl model, was last seen leaving the Retreat bar with Mirelas on November 23rd. Although the man’s blood drenched motel room was discovered the next day, Sander’s body was not found, abandoned with motel bedding in a ditch near the freeway 50 miles away, for another six days.

U.S. Deputy Marshal Logan Kline confirms that 24-year-old Mireles is in police custody, but declined to provide more information about the case, including the cause of Sander’s death or the condition of Mireles’ 16-year-old pregnant girlfriend, Victoria Martens. It is believed that he fled with the girl to Mexico in hopes of gaining sanctuary from friends and family there.

When Mireles is returned to the states he will face not only charges related to the death of Sanders, but also sex crime charges related to the impregnation of his under age girlfriend, who turned 16 in September. She was seven months pregnant when she left her home with Mireles’ shortly after the murder. If convicted of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, which include having “unlawfully, feloniously, willfully, and intentionally engaged in sexual intercourse with a child 15 years of age,” the man could face between four and 20 years in prison, depending up on his previous criminal record.

Martens’ family has asked that the public not forget about the girl, whose absence was publicized via the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s website in hopes that someone might recognize her.

Her mother, Sandy Martens, admits that although she was uneasy with the fact her minor daughter was involved with and impregnated by Mireles, who is eight years her senior, she chose to endure it in order to avoid what she calls “a rift” that might have inspired the teen to run away with him. “I wanted to be on good grounding, so if God forbid something happen, she would still want to call me,” as she explained to the Wichita Eagle.

In spite of silence on the part of the authorities, Martens’ grandmother, Sue Martens, informed the press that she had heard from the girl, who is proud of her pregnancy, and that she was safe. Sex charges against Mireles were filed by Ellis County. The elder Martens is said to have also provided additional evidence to the police, including a new blouse with possible blood stains, a leather knife sheath, and car keys that she had found in a trash can on November 24th, after the couple had left the girl’s Baxter Springs home in order to supposedly visit Mireles’ relatives in Texas.

It is believed that Sander met Mireles while out with friends at a Chinese restaurant. The young man encouraged the girls to join him for drinks at the Retreat, and after a few hours of drinking, was ready to leave the bar with one of Sander’s 23-year-old friends. While the friend was in the bathroom, Sander and Mireles began necking and ultimately decided to leave together.

Although her friends insist that Sander was intoxicated but coherent, and a waitress recalls being given a $50 tip for a $600 bar tab, Arlando Trotter, the bar owner, insists that the bill was not so high and that no alcohol was served to the minor, whose hand was marked with an X to show she was not of legal age. Trotter recalls that Sander had let her friends write “porn star” on her body using black light sensitive felt markers during the bar’s “black-light party” that night.

Shortly after midnight, Sander’s friends began searching for her, ultimately walking nearly two miles to the girl’s apartment after closing time. Her cherished car remained in the bar parking lot and a surveillance camera showed her leaving the bar with Mireles.
