YNOT recently sat down with Rick Morales, the Business Development Manager for Stripchat, to find out how the company stays on top, what sets them apart from other cam platforms and what advantages their network presents to aspiring and experienced cam models alike.
YNOT: What are some of the advantages Stripchat has over its competition, from a model’s perspective? In other words, if I’m a model, why should I choose Stripchat?
Morales: Our number one goal is to help models skyrocket, so we’re always coming up with new ideas on features that can help them make more money. Therefore, I must mention first of all, the tons of options that models have to sell content. Streams are cool but combining that with passive and active income from selling their unique content is the bomb. They have private albums in their profile, a feature called My Timeline, their Fan Clubs, and even the onsite messenger, because any moment is good to make a sale, even when casually chatting with users. Morales: One of our main markets is the European Union, where we are one of the most popular live cam sites. We also have a great niche in the US, where we’re still expanding day by day. All markets are important for us, especially when it comes to new users, so everyone’s always welcome!
YNOT: Is the camming sector getting too crowded, in terms of either models or platforms/networks? Is it still a growing sector of the industry, and if so, what’s driving the growth?
Morales: I would say it’s not only our industry, but technology in general. Each day more and more people choose to spend time in front of their computers or mobile devices, so the internet never sleeps, sort of say. We’re simply using this scenario to show people what they want to see. That’s why we’re always innovating to deliver the public new ways to interact. They spend more time at home on their devices? Not a problem, we bring them ways to communicate and interact with others without having to move or go anywhere. That’s how it goes.
YNOT: What are some common mistakes new cam models make, or some misconceptions they might have, coming in?
Morales: Everyone tends to think that camming is a piece of cake, that since you’re your own boss and can decide your own hours, you don’t have to put as much effort into it. Yes, you work on your own terms and have a flexibility that you can’t enjoy with any other types of jobs. However, if you want to be successful, you must take it as any other 9-5 job.
Our algorithm is based on a lot of factors like online hours, tips received while online, and a secret sauce of other matrices. So to make a killing on Stripchat, models should fill every field in their profile with detailed Tip Menus, upload a good number of photos and videos and keep them regularly updated. In other words, they should have fully complete profiles. Also, we recommend models to have shifts of at least 5-6 hours, as this is the best way to build a loyal fan base of returning users.
YNOT: It has been widely reported that the COVID-19 pandemic and the shutdowns associated with it has contributed to an influx of new models and performers; has that influx slowed down in recent months?
Morales: We are constantly growing, so for us, that influx is still going. Since December of 2020, we’ve had a 25% increase in model registrations monthly, and it hasn’t slowed down since then.
YNOT: What does Stripchat have lined up for the weeks and months to come? Are there any contests, promotional campaigns, new features being added, or anything else along those lines that you’d like to mention?
Morales: New features are guaranteed since that’s one of the things that we’re constantly working on. Every month we released new features for both models and users.
As per promo campaigns, I can say more of the same. We take special celebrations and festivities worldwide and add our Stripchat touch to them. Oktoberfest (is coming the third weekend of September 2021), Halloween, 4th of July, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day to name a few. We always prepare special categories and streams so that users can enjoy a different kind of show, and models can make extra bucks while having fun.
