WARRENDALE, Pa. – An online distributor of adult video-on-demand movies has launched a campaign to increase its social media presence while benefiting military members and veterans.

Adult Empire, a video-on-demand sibling of online DVD retailer AdultDVDEmpire, plans to donate $1 for every new Twitter follower and Facebook fan to a charity organization that provides relief to active-duty troops and veterans. The promotion will continue through July 4.

A spokesperson called the program “the first step in a continuing project that will donate to a variety of charities, spotlighting a new cause each month.”

“People tend to regard adult entertainment organizations purely as distributors of porn,” the spokesperson said. “However, in the end, we’re a company made up of people who care just as deeply about giving back as any other business does.

“We can think of no better cause to donate to than troops in need. The sacrifices of veterans reach a scale that is hard for any of us to fully comprehend, and we at Adult Empire want to honor their selflessness.”

The company’s affiliate program, Adult Empire Cash, pays a 25- to 50-percent revenue share.
