VANCOUVER, Canada – Virtual-reality content is the “hot” thing of the moment, and developers, content creators, website owners and others are rushing to capture a share of the new trend. Whether the technology will gain traction in the adult entertainment sector remains to be seen, but already one team is working to make its product stand out.
MetaverseXXX.com hopes to “revolutionize” the nascent content category not only with its wares, but also by the way it treats those directly involved in production.
The MetaverseXXX.com approach is inclusive and sex-positive, according to founder Markus Edge. Models and crew are not paid up front; instead, they receive royalties from the revenue of the videos with which they are involved.

The MetaverseXXX team is heavily involved in Vancouver’s sex-positive culture, Edge said. He also said the Vancouver culture stresses consent, safety, respect, authenticity, acceptance and diversity, all of which have influenced MetaverseXXX.com.
“Being so closely knit into the kink and polyamorous communities allows us to explore all types of porn, including straight, gay, queer, BDSM, trans and many other types all on one website,” he continued. “We are more concerned with capturing authentic consensual human sexual expression than fitting into a predefined role of what porn or sex should be.”
The company’s equipment isn’t “porn-standard,” either.
“We built our own special VR camera that captures a scene in such a way that, when viewed via a VR head-mounted display, the wearer feels like they are actually in the room,” Edge said. “Until now, watching porn has been like looking through a window. [Our] virtual reality allows you to step through that window and experience the scene as if you were actually there. It is one of those things you can’t really explain.
