RTA Tag Plug-in Facilitates WordPress Integration

YNOT – As part of its Internet Safety Month campaign, the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection has launched a new software plug-in that brings features of the Restricted to Adults – RTA website label to blogs powered by WordPress. An open-source content management system, WordPress is one of the most popular blogging and template-driven website platforms in use on the web. As of September 2009, the software was in use on 202 million websites worldwide. The RTA label plug-in adds a string of meta data to WordPress templates, allowing parental filtering software to recognize a page’s content and block sites that are inappropriate for children. Manually installing the RTA tag on a WordPress site can be somewhat complicated, so Saguaro Digital created the plug-in pro-bono in order to provide webmasters with a one-click installation and activation routine.

“No one wants a mandatory, complicated and potentially expensive website labeling system,” said ASACP Chief Executive Officer Joan Irvine. “This is why ASACP created the Restricted To Adults – RTA Website Label. Whether for a traditional website, mobile content or now WordPress, ASACP is dedicated to helping anyone who wants to quickly and simply label with RTA in order to prevent children from unknowingly reviewing age-restricted content.

“We are so grateful to Saguaro Digital for volunteering to make the RTA WordPress plugin possible,” she added.

The RTA WordPress plug-in is available here. Complete information about the RTA labeling program is available at RTALabel.org.
