KinkyLiterature.com is the one-stop-shop for an older and still immensely popular form of erotica: The kind that features the written word.
It started with a dream.
After retiring from YouPorn, Richie G decided to do something he’d fantasized about for years — pen an erotic novel based on his wild experiences as a San Francisco nigh cab driver.
Taxxxi Tales took a full year for Richie to write and Randi to edit. Richie’s sexy, funny peek into the lust-life of a big city night-cabbie garnered great notices from publications such as Penthouse and book-review giant Kirkus, along with five-star reader-raves on Amazon.
But even as the kudos kept coming, Richie discovered some grim truths about the literary marketplace.
“It didn’t take me long to realize writing the book was the easy part,” Richie says. “Marketing is much harder. And Taxxxi Tales being so xxx rated made selling it even tougher. Sure, standard book outlets tolerate erotica. They don’t exactly embrace it, though. Sexy book writers are second-class citizens. We hit a wall pretty quickly in terms of sales.”
LUSTY LIBRARY
Market resistance led Richie and Randi to realize there was a niche that needed filling.
“We saw the solution for a lot of writers, not just Richie,” says Randi. “Start a website where erotic authors are welcome and readers enjoy a one-stop smut-shop.”
KinkyLiterature.com offers hundreds of erotic books and novellas touching every point on the spectrum from sexy romance to pure porn, searchable by author, title and genre.
— Hardcovers, paperbacks, e-books, comic books, magazines, coloring books and audio books are all covered; many book video trailers are presented too; and there are free giveaways each week.
— A Channel Page highlights a synopsis of each book, author bio, with links to Amazon or Smashwords for sample chapters and purchase options.
— Also on display: Books of erotic photography, and adult magazines including collector’s issues of Penthouse, Hustler, Playboy.
“New writers join KinkyLiterature.com every day,” says Randi. “Readership keeps growing too. It makes sense on both sides of the equation. Having your book listed free is a win for writers. And as more readers find us, they see there’s always something new. So we’re becoming a destination for people who are into erotic lit. We’ll keep expanding what we offer as we see what turns surfers on.”
“We noticed an interesting thing as we kept building KinkyLiterature.com,” Richie adds. “A few porn tubes have internal links to short stories and surfer-written smut. But none link directly to outlets to purchase erotic books. We decided to lead the way by linking our own free porn site, Pornsurfer Reports to KinkyLiterature.com. Will other tube sites follow? We shall see.”
Exactly how KinkyLiterature will change and grow is an open question.
But one thing seems certain: Keep building it and they will keep cumming!
Richie and Randi hope the porn industry takes advantage of the opportunity to cheaply advertise on their site. The assumption being; If someone likes to read smut, they probably like to watch it too!
