Well I recently had a chance to learn a little more about phone sex workers and the service they provide. It turns out to be quite a bit more positive job experience than I had first imagined.
I was also wrong when I figured that the phone sex operators would be going out of business due to competition with Web cam girls and all the free porn and chat on the Internet. I could not be more wrong. Though there are “down times” seasonally, these girls make a hell of a living from establishing a strong customer base.
I spoke to Juliette over at www.hotphonesexunlimited.net and got the lowdown on how it works. First of all she admitted to being nervous as hell her first week doing phone sex calls, which was three years ago when she first decided to get into the business. She told me that she honestly told the clients calling that she was “new,” and this did not turn them off; in fact they continued with the calls and helped her along while fulfilling their fantasies.
Juliette’s honesty is the mainstay of her business. She claims she has never had a bad experience in all the time she has been working phone sex lines. In fact, she told me that all of her customers are friendly and not the shady, dirty old men we so expect them to be. Most of the men, as it turns out, are just trying to fulfill a fantasy without actually cheating on their partners. Sometimes it is because the partner just won’t go for the fantasy. A lot of times it’s because these men travel a lot and are lonely on the road.
When a customer calls and asks Juliette what turns her on she tells them that it’s easier for her to say what doesn’t turn her on. If she does get a fetish call that does not make her comfortable, she can do what is called “passing the call,” sending it to another operator who can better fulfill the caller’s fantasy or desire.
Juliette gets most of her customers from chat rooms that her company operates, as this allows the possible client to get a feel for the girl’s personality and whether or not they would like to call her. The chats are free, but it is made clear that no cybersex is going to occur; they only get off if they make the call and pay.
Juliette gets lots of regular and repeat callers; after talking to her I can see why, as she has a very pleasant voice and is an attentive listener. Aside from being honest with callers, Juilliette states that to be good at taking phone sex calls you must be as attentive as possible and do your work in a quiet room with absolutely nothing else going on around you – this means no TV or ironing while you are trying to satisfy your customers needs!
Her company is very fair too; you pay upfront for ten minutes, but how you use the minutes is up to you. If you finish beforehand then you can still stay on and talk to her, but if you’re not finished when the time is close to up she will very politely ask you if you wish to buy more minutes. Her business does not try to hold you on the line for every possible second to get every cent, though I do know that there are many that do.
The ability of the operator to establish a good customer base is key when times become slow. As Juliette told me, things slow down after Christmas because people have less money. Yet if you have done your job properly and made every experience comfortable for your client then that solid customer base will get you through the down time.
Phone sex is also the safest sex there is. Considering the industry’s health risks, made clear by this year’s HIV outbreak, this might be a good option for girls who don’t want to risk unprotected sex to make some money.
