An ongoing (as of the time of this post) incident of OnlyFans downtime due to what the platform’s support department called “maintenance works” has creators and contributors asking pointed questions on Twitter this morning.
In response to a tweet from OnlyFans Support stating that the platform is “currently performing maintenance works onthe site and therefore expecting some site down time,” a large number of contributors are demanding more information, complaining about a lack of quality support – and wondering aloud if there’s anything other than an apology coming as compensation for the outage.

The most common refrain of those complaining is that if the downtime is due to maintenance, they would have appreciated hearing about that maintenance before it began, rather than hours into the service disruption it continues to cause. (As someone who once helped run a large affiliate program, I can personally attest to the fact that letting customers, advertisers, affiliates and other people affected by downtime about your maintenance plans in advance is a good prophylactic against getting flamed over service interruptions that stem from that maintenance.)

Others are questioning the explanation itself, suggesting the cause of the downtime may not be what OnlyFans Support claims it is.
“Server maintenance” is usually code for “Holy shit! The site’s down and we’re scrambling to get it back up!”

Let's also be frank: This isn't an upgrade. During upgrades, everyone is aware if there's going to be downtime. That downtime and said upgrades are announced and mitigted as much as possible.
I don't know what is going on, but this ain't no upgrade.

Another common question is whether the platform will compensate its creators for the downtime. (Historically, some sites, platforms and affiliate programs have offered such compensation to affiliates, creators or customers in response to downtime, but this is relatively rare in my experience.)
“Apologise for any inconvenience” maybe apologise with some cash because that’s what people are losing.

Will creators be compensated for lost time?

Still others are upset by the brief explanation not being followed up with additional information, or any sort of estimate as to what “shortly” means.

This has been really frustrating. Paying fans aren’t getting what they paid for. You take 20% of all our money, yet you leave us without a platform for over 24 hours. Our fans and our models deserve better from your platform. Please treat us like a team and give us better updates

As of the time of this post, the disruption of service on OnlyFans appears to be ongoing, as are the complaints and questions. Here’s hoping it is resolved soon, or it might be a very long weekend for the platform’s creators and contributors — and for OnlyFans Support, as well.
