YNOT – In an effort to reflect shifting priorities within the adult entertainment industry, the NightMoves Awards added new categories to this year’s ballot. For the first time in the awards’ 20-year history, three categories are designed to recognize achievement online.
The category about which awards organizers are most excited is Best Social Media Star.
“This [award] is directly determined by how well performers promote themselves to their fans via popular social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.,” a prepared statement noted.
Best Website (Individual Performer) and Best Multi-Site Network also were added this year.
For the past several years, adult parodies of pop-culture phenomena have dominated industry sales charts and awards show. Because of the number of entries for 2012 honors, NightMoves split a single category into three: Best Parody – Comedy, Best Parody – Drama and Best Parody – Super Hero. While not related to parodies, Best Transsexual Release also was added to the list of movie-related awards.
Five new performer-related categories also appear on this year’s list: Best Boobs, Best Ass, Best Overall Body, Best Latina Performer and Best Transsexual Performer.
“We decided to expand our national categories this year to celebrate our 20-year history of the NightMoves Awards show,” said Paul Allen, publisher and owner of NightMoves magazine. “Our show is unique in that fans vote for their favorites via online ballot. Plus, we include an Editors’ Choice winner in each category.
“We spent an amazing amount of time researching our nominations and are very pleased with the outcome of the ballot this year,” he added.
Public voting will begin July 15 on the awards’ website. The 2012 NightMoves Awards ceremony is expected to take place during a weekend-long celebration Oct. 4-7 in Tampa, Fla.
