Nafty and NFTs: “100% Here to Stay”

NaftyAdvocates of cryptocurrency have long argued that decentralized, virtual currencies and adult content are natural ‘allies,’ for lack of a better term. Given the stigma attached to adult content, adult content consumers, performers and producers alike could all benefit from cryptocurrency becoming the dominant medium of exchange for the adult industry.

More recently, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have emerged as a high-potential revenue stream for adult content creators – and models, producers and studios have quickly jumped at the opportunity to cash in.

Nafty, a new blockchain technology built around names and faces that should be very familiar to those who have worked in the online adult entertainment space, has launched with a flurry of activity, unveiling the Nafty token and multiple products and services designed for the adult industry, including the NaftyArt.com NFT marketplace, the NaftyPay.com payment solution, the fan platform NaftyFans.com and Nafty.tv, a subscription platform offering exclusive high-end adult content.

YNOT recently spoke to Jeff Dillon, Chief Business Development Officer for Nafty, about the company, NFTs and what sets Nafty apart from the rest of the crypto crowd.

YNOT: For those unfamiliar with Nafty, can you briefly describe what the company is and what it does?

Dillon: Nafty is a blockchain technology company focused on solutions for the adult industry.

YNOT: What sets Nafty apart from its competitors? Why will it succeed where other adult industry-friendly crypto tokens and platforms have failed?

Dillon: Most crypto companies launched their tokens and raise money to fund the projects they plan on building and many times we never see these projects materialize. This is one of the reasons why people in adult tend to be skeptical of adult crypto companies. Nafty did the reverse. We came to market with live sites before we launched our token so right out of the gate Naftytoken holders had working sites to spend their Nafty coin at. NaftyArt.com – NTF marketplace for erotic artwork, where both the creators and the collectors can earn profit from their artwork. Nafty.tv – Content subscription platform which charges a monthly/yearly fee for exclusive content, NaftyFans.com – Fanclub platform like OnlyFans that takes Naftytoken and very useful marketing tools. Nafty is also the only crypto company producing content with our global production team. We are filming in Europe and in the US.

YNOT: NFTs seem to have really caught on, both in the mainstream and within the adult industry. Do you think adult NFTs are here to stay as a means of generating revenue, or do you think this is a hot trend that will cool off?

Dillon: NFT is 100% here to stay. This is the perfect medium for collectors of this day and age. As we move into the metaverse NFT’s will be more common. We are increasingly moving more and more into a digital society and NFT’s are a great way to collect and share content. In the adult industry fans want a deeper connection with their favorite star and NFT’s provide them with this level of connection by knowing they have the original content. Not pirated.

YNOT: What’s the best way for adult performers and content creators to get involved in creating and selling NFTs? Creating them seems easy enough; is the challenge mostly in getting the word out and promoting an NFT, once it has been made?

Dillon: The best way for performers to get involved is to sign up on NaftyArt.com. We understand this is new territory to a lot of content creators so we walk them through the process and help them out every step of that way. NFT’s are no different than selling any other form of content. The more people that know about it the better the sales, but NFT’s have the option for an auction-style sale so the more the word gets out, the more people will bid and the higher the sale price.

YNOT: Do you think the kind of scrutiny and policy changes from financial institutions that drove OnlyFans to drop sexually explicit content will spread to other transaction service providers and impact adult platforms? If so, does that further underline the utility of cryptocurrency for the adult industry?

Dillon: I am not sure, but I don’t see these major financial institutions getting less restrictive anytime soon. We will most likely see them get more restrictive and go after more sites. There are certain groups that don’t like the adult industry and they have zeroed in on what they see as a weakness in adult which is banking and credit card processing. Given these uncertain times, I think it is wise of sites to diversify the types of payments they accept. Cryptocurrency is the perfect solution for adult because it isn’t susceptible to these financial institutions’ rules and regulations. Another added benefit to cryptocurrency is that payments are anonymous and there are zero chargebacks.

YNOT: Anything else you’d like to add?

Dillon: Nafty is here to provide solutions to the adult industry so content creators looking to diversify their revenue streams should check out Nafty and websites looking to diversify payments options and add cryptocurrency should also check out Nafty and Naftypay.com.
