LOS ANGELES – Cloud-based computing, which is not nearly as ethereal as it sounds, steadily is gaining popularity among consumers because it allows them to access stored content and services anytime, anywhere, on any internet-enabled device.
Leased-content provider SexEntertain is the latest adult entertainment company to join the migration to cloud-based storage. The company’s Content Anywhere system allows operators of membership websites to publish existing digital assets to branded channels on streaming media services including Roku and GoogleTV, web-connected HDTVs, mobile devices and game consoles without creating a content set for each platform.
Although the system indexes websites’ content, webmasters maintain complete control over customers, billing, data, content and schedules, a SexEntertain spokesperson said. To use Content Anywhere, webmasters need only create an output file in RSS, CSV or XML format to create a branded channel. Content Anywhere works with any content-management system or database at less than half the cost of competing products, according to SexEntertain President RJ.
