LONDON – MintStars, a fan site and clip store “dedicated to protecting creators from financial discrimination,” has announced the launch of “MintPay,” a payment method designed to make tipping creators “easier and more accessible for fans.”
“We’re proud to present MintPay, the easiest, safest, and cheapest way for creators to receive tips from fans,” said Daniel Sargent, CEO at MintStars. “Our goal is to make it as simple as possible for fans to support creators, and MintPay is a major step in that direction.”
Launched in 2023, MintStars enables creators to monetize their content through subscriptions, tips, and “novel content resales,” where creators can earn royalties from fans reselling their content. The platform reports that it is currently home to over 4,000 creators.
MintPay is the latest innovation from the platform, “aimed at simplifying the tipping process, allowing fans to tip their favorite creators without the need for a MintStars account.”
According to the announcement, MintPay is designed to offer “a secure, safe, and simple way for adult content creators to get paid, at a time when many platforms are shutting down or struggling due to payment discrimination against sex-positive businesses.”
Alongside MintPay, MintStars offers “zero fees for creators (replaced by a 5% fee for fans), protection from chargebacks, and fast payouts, all underpinned by crypto stablecoin payments,” the platform added in the announcement. “This unique approach allows creators to avoid the high fees and chargeback risks associated with traditional payment processors.”
MintStars also noted the platform is “waiving its 5% platform fee for the first three months, ensuring fans only pay a small processing fee, with 100% of their tip going to the creator.”
