Cyberspace –  Footage from the Mindbrowse.com discussion “Ethical Porn in Practice” is now available on Ethical.porn and MindBrowse.com.

The event, produced by Sssh.com’s Angie Rowntree, was held on Tuesday Jan. 16 as part of the XBIZ 2018 event series. The program was broadcast live via Periscope on Twitter at @ssshforwomen to 4.7k viewers.

In addition to a packed audience, discussion participants included performer and custom video producer, Casey Calvert; Grooby’s Marketing and Editorial Director and owner of Ikigai Marketing, Kristel Penn; Lead Director of YanksVR.com and Yanks.com, Lily Campbell; owner of Venus Lux Entertainment Inc., Venus Lux; Vice President of Operations for Rodney Moore and Transational Fantasies, Fran Marquez; author, performer, and activist, Siouxsie Q. James; performer Michael Vegas; and performer, writer, and Spankchain.com associate, Janice Griffith.

The event’s innovative circle setup eschewed traditional “expert panelists” vibes, fostering instead a more egalitarian discussion of complex issues. This included discussion of what constitutes ethical in practice, as well as within the context of our constantly evolving social landscape.

The event was moderated and co-organized by sociologist Dr. Chauntelle Tibbals.

Dr. Tibbals was pleased with participants’ candor during the event, but also stated “My only regret was that we were not able to touch on the second and third questions I had prepared for the event. They were, what are more finite and immediate efforts we can engage, and what are larger big picture changes we can tackle?”

“This is often where events seeking to unpack significant social issues fall off. We are able to engage what’s wrong, but we often run out of time before even discussing potential solutions and courses of action. This is why we need to make a concerted effort to continue these efforts towards addressing issues of ethics in adult content production,” she added.

About Angie Rowntree and Sssh.com

Angie Rowntree is regarded as one of the Internet’s true porn pioneers and a top female power player in the adult industry. She founded Sssh.com in 1999.

Drawing on survey responses and member feedback, Sssh creates community sourced cinematic-quality erotic content based on real life fantasies and desires. Sssh’s sex-positive films and vignettes communicate true passion and mutual pleasure, always striving to be equal parts intelligent, sexy, and entertaining — with great success. Their movies and the site itself have been honored with numerous awards and nominations over the years, including most recently Adult Site of the Year — For Women (XBIZ 2017).

Sssh was the first adult company to be a semi-finalist at a mainstream film festival (Gone, Swedish Film Festival, 2016) and was the first to produce a VR movie geared towards women using dynamic storytelling that can be viewed with or without a headset (Empowering Ava). Sssh is a member of Women of Sex Tech, the Ethical Porn Partnership, and was one of the first studios to receive the Adult Performer Advocacy Committee (APAC) Stamp of Approval in January 2017.
