MILFS, Condoms on Porn-watchers’ Minds

YNOT – More than 85 percent of men who watch porn enjoy adult content featuring mature women, a new poll has revealed. However, if Los Angeles County emerges victorious from legal challenges currently facing its new “condoms in porn” law, the same survey respondents indicated they’d prefer to watch nothing at all.

The poll also sought input about adult industry awards and discovered consumers are influenced by wins, but give more credence to those given by one trade journal than they do to those given by another.

On Monday, adult studio Vivid Entertainment and porn directory Sex Tracker unveiled the results of their seventh poll. No details about the sample population were provided, but whoever the respondents were, 37.4 percent of them said they “love MILF porn.” Only 8.2 percent indicated they’ve sampled MILF porn but “it’s not my thing,” and 2.2 percent said they would “never watch it.”

Survey respondents also indicated Measure B, L.A. County’s new ordinance that requires performers to wear condoms and other barrier protection on porn sets, would affect their porn-viewing habits in negative ways. A total of 91.9 percent said they “would not purchase an adult movie with the performers wearing hazmat gear.” In addition, 92.4 percent of respondents indicated they believe voters didn’t understand the ordinance when they voted, and 80.7 percent said they didn’t believe voters were aware of the industry’s message that “rigorous and frequent testing of performers keeps them safer than condoms.”

When asked about industry awards, respondents showed a clear preference for some over others. Among those who responded, 41.3 percent said AVN Awards wins play a “very” or “extremely” important role in their porn-buying decisions; 22 percent said AVN wins are not important to them at all. The results were significantly different for XBIZ Awards wins: 75.3 percent of respondents said awards from XBIZ play no role in their porn-buying decisions, while 24.7 percent indicated wins influence what they watch.
