LOS ANGELES, CA — Encouraged by her previous placement in the 2003 gubernatorial recall election, porn star Mary Carey has decided to give it a second go in the upcoming race for the mansion.Legally known (and appearing on ballots) as Mary Cook, the 26-year-old Independent needs 163,960 signatures to gain a place on the California ballot. Her current count is 40. She announced her intention to run during a press conference held this past Wednesday, emphasizing that she hoped to be taken more seriously this time. The once-self-described Republican has hired a college student as her campaign manager.

“I think I’m more serious now,” she told reporters. The then explained the first step in being viewed as a more realistic candidate. “As you can see, I’m dressed more seriously. I’ve got brown in my hair because brunettes are taken more seriously.”

Further promoting herself as a candidate with a message and a sense of humor, Carey announced that her campaign slogan will be “Finally, a politician you want to be screwed by.”

During the 2003 race, Carey earned 10,114 votes, coming in ahead of infamous food-destroying comic Leo Gallagher but behind tiny comic Gary Coleman (12,690), porn magnate Larry Flynt, or muscle-bound movie star winner, Arnold Schwarzenegger (3,744,132).
