ManyVids, an adult content platform similar to OnlyFans, has begun posting bizarre AI-generated content across its social media accounts and internal newsfeed, confusing and frustrating creators who use the site. The platform’s official accounts have shifted from typical promotional content to posting about “angel numbers,” chakras, and imaginary conversations with aliens, alongside AI-generated videos and images.
The unusual content began appearing around August 2024 on the platform’s X account, which posted a flow chart describing “Adult Industry 2.0” that appeared to be taken directly from a ChatGPT response. The chart outlined a model starting with safe-for-work content that would lead users to adult material requiring age verification. The X account stopped posting in September, but the strange content continued on ManyVids’ internal newsfeed.
Recent posts on the platform discuss concepts like “High Universal Income” and include statements such as “AI generates surplus wealth, but humans need surplus purpose.” One January post claimed “The High Universal Income (HUI) Engine is the distribution hub of the new economy, built for a world where AI does the work humans never wanted to do.” These posts are typically accompanied by six-second AI-generated videos featuring spiritual imagery.
The platform was founded in 2014 by CEO Bella French, a former cam model, and now serves millions of members and tens of thousands of creators who sell custom videos, subscriptions, and perform live shows. French’s personal website previously emphasized protecting sex workers from exploitative industry practices, but creators have noticed changes in her messaging that suggest transitioning creators away from sex work.
According to 404 Media, creators on the platform find the posts inappropriate and feel the company doesn’t take them seriously. Some creators have pointed out contradictions between the CEO’s apparent desire to discourage sex work while the platform simultaneously offers bonuses to attract new creators.
What remains unclear: Whether the AI-generated content represents a genuine strategic pivot by French or simply reflects automated posting that the company has adopted without clear direction.
