CHATSWORTH, CA – More than 250 adult domain names will be auctioned off during Internext Expo Las Vegas, January 15th – 17th, according to a press release issued Thursday by AVN Online. The release specifically mentioned “premium” domains Porn.com and Pornstars.com, and notes that a full list of the domains available via the auction can be reviewed by attendees, once they have registered for the show. Advance online registration for the show closes Friday, January 5th. On-site registration begins Sunday, January 14th at 8:00 am.

A list posted to http://www.Internext-Expo.com/DomainAuction/ also specifies Cock.com, XXXCams.com and Fetish.com as among the other premium names being made available via the auction.

The live domain auction takes place January 17th from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm and will be accompanied by a silent auction hosted online. The live event will be conducted by Monte Cahn, founder and CEO of domain registrar Moniker and a professional auctioneer.

“According to Moniker, the value of domain names purchased has increased dramatically from 2005 to 2006, due to the increase in online traffic and the spread of broadband,” states the Internext press release. “At a domain auction in October 2005, the top price paid was $435,000. In a May 2006 auction, the top price for a domain was more than $2 million. Recently, Sex.com sold for $14 million.”

The price of premium domains, which dipped substantially following the much-ballyhooed Internet sector “bubble burst” of the late 1990’s, has picked back up again, according to the press release.

“The domain marketplace is really heating up again and adult-specific domains are among the most highly valued names, because they come with built in traffic,” said Farley Cahen, publisher of AVN Online, in the press release. “Everyone should take advantage of the opportunity – current site owners, domain investors and speculators.”

Recent domain sales made by Moniker appear to back up that assessment; Moniker sold Sex.net for $450,000 in May of 2006, while Gays.com sold for a half-million in October, and Nasty.com garnered $200,000 in July.

According to the press release, domains up for auction at Internext are expected to fetch anywhere from few hundred to over a million dollars.

To participate in the auction, first register at Internext-Expo.com. Once registered, a password will be emailed to the address you provide which grants access to the domain names that are up for auction.
