HOLLYWOOD — Str8UpGayPorn has announced that Grammy and Emmy-winning comedian, actress and activist Kathy Griffin will headline the Str8UpGay Summit and Str8UpGayPorn Awards in Hollywood this January.
At the Summit, Griffin will deliver the conference’s keynote address on Saturday, January 11. According to Str8UpGayPorn, Griffin’s speech will “focus on the importance of free speech battles waged by the industry, on the 50th anniversary of the legalization of porn, and her own first amendment battles.” The following night, Griffin will host the Str8UpGayPorn Awards at the historic Avalon Theater.
“I’ve had the honor of performing for many kinds of audiences,” Griffin said. “I’ve been to the top, the bottom, the versatile, and baby, now I’m back!”
Griffin added that the Str8UpGayPorn events will be “a hell of a weekend.”
“From giving the keynote speech on Saturday, to participating as the awards host on Sunday, I’m thrilled to head…I mean, stand erect…oh, let’s go with pull a comedy train in a packed, and I mean PACKED, room full of hot, gay male porn stars and the men who fluff them.”
In its announcement, Str8UpGayPorn wrote that Griffin’s keynote and hosting gig the day following is a chance for the comedian to “speak out passionately and politically.”
Str8UpGayPorn Co-Founder and Editor Zach Sire says he expects Griffin to “kill,” both at the Summit and the Award show.
“Kathy Griffin hosting the 2020 ceremony is a moment that will go down in history for the gay community,” Sire said. “We are beyond honored and know that she will own the stage and give audiences around the world a show like no other.”
Griffin heads to the Str8UpGayPorn conference and awards coming off the release of her first feature film, Kathy Griffin: A Hell of Story. The documentary/comedy won the Freedom of Speech Award at Michael Moore’s Traverse City Film Festival and received honors from the Downtown LA Film Festival, New York’s ENE Film Festival and New Mexico’s Way Out West Film Festival. It is currently available in over 40 countries on Apple and Amazon and will be streaming worldwide through Prime Video beginning December 2.
The Str8UpGaySummit takes place January 9-11 at the W Hotel Hollywood, followed by the award show on Sunday, January 12. The event will be streamed live exclusively on Str8UpGayPorn, beginning at 8:30pm PST.
