HotMovies Says “Speak Freely” During Cybernet Expo FSC Luncheon

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Adult webmasters are rarely at a loss for words or opinions, and thanks to MovieDollars.com ,they will enjoy both a free lunch and a little Philadelphia freedom during the Thursday, June 12th Cybernet Expo Free Speech Coalition Roundtable Luncheon. Held from 11:45am – 1:30pm PT on the final day of the Expo and sponsored by the popular HotMovies.com affiliate program, the luncheon will provide industry members an opportunity to nourish not only their bodies but their minds, as well.

Representatives from the Free Speech Coalition will discuss issues affecting adult entertainment professionals, answer questions, and listen to attendee’s opinions and suggestions during the late morning/early afternoon meal seminar offering.

Diane Duke, executive director for the FSC says that the trade association will use the luncheon in order to “introduce its initial draft of its Code of Ethics (COE) for FSC members and the industry. Participants will discuss, with their peers at their table, issues in the COE ranging from intellectual property to social responsibility.”

Given how anti-porn forces are able to pack outspoken activists into meeting spaces, Duke and others hope that the combination of “Great food, stimulating conversation, and a way to participate in developing a message about who we are as an industry and what we stand for” will motivate concerned business personnel into participating.

“HotMovies shows time and time again why they are an industry leader,” Cybernet Expo director of operations, LAJ observes. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to be working hand-in-hand with them and the FSC for Cybernet Expo. For me, their involvement in our show goes above and beyond business. The personal satisfaction I get knowing the good that will come of HotMovies’ support for the FSC and Cybernet Expo attendees in general really makes me proud of their continued success and friendship.”

As for HotMovies, James Cybert of MovieDollars explains that “We sponsored the event because we know how important it is right now that our voices be heard. That goes for individuals who care about the direction of our industry and for the industry as a whole. The forum is a great way for people in the industry to let FSC, which does such an amazing job fighting for all of us on a national stage, know their priorities and concerns.”

The FSC Luncheon will be an excellent follow-up to the trade association’s recent “Celebrate Free Speech Lobbying Days” at the state Capital in Sacramento, CA, where a record number of adult industry delegates met with lawmakers. According to an FSC press release, more than 55 representatives spent time with 90 legislators during the 11th annual event. Representatives came from a wide range of positions within the industry, including performers Nina Hartley, Dave Cummings, and Mary Carey, industry leaders Joy King of Wicked Pictures, Gill Sperlein of Titan Media, and ACE of California president, Glenn Smith.

Of particular focus for the activists was AB 2914, a bill reintroduced by assemblyman Chuck Calderon’s (D-Whittier) and aimed at imposing an 8-percent tax – although he has proposed that the number could go as high as 25-percent. Monies raised by the tax would allegedly fund community recover from so-called “secondary effects” brought about by the adult industry. Calderon has indicated that one of those supposed effects is unemployable, ill-educated, and drug addicted performers who leave the industry and turn to social services for support.
