PHILADELPHIA, PA – There are standard porn fans, and then there are porn fans who get it; and for the devoted fans who have an interest in the adult entertainment industry’s storied past, HotMovies.com and K-Beech have something special in store.In a year when adult companies are adapting to changes in the marketplace, including new challenges to physical media distribution, K-Beech has gone to its film vaults to revive classic, pre-gonzo adult films from the 1980’s and early 1990’s. The films will be made available for an Internet audience for the first time, premiering on HotMovies.com starting in the next few weeks.
K-Beech and HotMovies.com will release the films under the name “Midnight Classics,” and the series will feature legends of porn like Ron Jeremy, Nina Hartley, Jeanna Fine, Ginger Lynn and Jerry Butler.
According to K-Beech general manager Jeff Snyder, the level of success these classic films find with HotMovies.com users will play a role in whether these films are ever released on DVD.
“It’s really exciting to bring these movies into the light of day once again, so to speak,” Snyder said. “I’ll be interested to see how they sell as a gauge on whether to do a DVD release next.”
Because the films had been stored in a warehouse for so many years, they completely missed the brief but lucrative DVD revolution that picked up in the late 1990’s. That hasn’t escaped the notice of HotMovies.com’s Director of Business Development, James Cybert.
“On the site we’ll call it ‘Midnight Classics’ so nobody overlooks their importance,” Cybert said. “Of course, I’m sure most dudes will be watching for the sex and rubbing one out. These are some very hot movies. But that doesn’t lessen the historical significance.”
