YNOT – Marketing trends come and go almost overnight in the online adult industry, but one that seems to be enjoying a lengthy stay is so-called tube sites. Although some content owners decry the free-to-post, free-to-view waystations as dens of thieves, others applaud tubes’ ability to generate traffic — and consequently, potential revenue.
Affiliate program PimpRoll is among the latter camp. The company has offered a cash parking service for unused domains for some time, and this month it added a new way to make money from domains that are underperforming or not live at all: HostedTube.
According to spokesman Dave K, HostedTube “is the WordPress of tube sites.”
“In the past, it would take a webmaster a lot of time and work to put together a tube site, but with HostedTube all you need is an $8 domain and you’re set,” he said. “With a massive selection of premium content and no expensive hosting costs, having a HostedTube is a no-brainer. By logging on to HostedTube.com and clicking “Build Your Tube,” webmasters can customize a layout, upload a logo and background, set a color scheme, schedule updates and write their own text. A “Bulk Builder” feature allows owners of multiple fallow domains to create as many as 100 sites in under five minutes, Dave K. said.
“[Search engine optimization] is increasingly important when it comes to tubes,” he added. “Webmasters can change video titles, URL slugs, descriptions, hard links, page titles, keywords and much more with HostedTube’s comprehensive SEO customization tools.”
They also may choose to create desktop or mobile tubes, although the desktop option automatically creates a mobile doppelganger. HostedTube also allows the creation of fake tube sites that may serve as gateways to premium content.
