The “Legislative Action Center” announced earlier this week by the Free Speech Coalition is now live, enabling members to “track bills and laws affecting the adult industry at the state and federal level.”
According to FSC, the Action Center “provides history, analysis and relevant text on over 50 bills on issues including banking discrimination, pleasure product restrictions, age-verification, attacks on section 230 protection, device filter mandates, sex workers’ rights and more.”
Funded by lead sponsors Eldorado and Segpay, along with support from Doc Johnson, PervOut and Polari Media, the FSC Action Center “utilizes best-in-class bill tracking and analysis from FiscalNote, includes an interactive map showing pending and passed bills on a state-by-state level, as well as federal legislation,” FSC said in a release announcing its official launch. “Keywords relevant to the adult industry allow for real time tracking of new legislation, as well as text and analysis of relevant bills.”
FSC Executive Director Alison Boden noted that the adult industry is currently “facing an unprecedented number of legislative attacks.”
“These bills can have far-reaching consequences for our rights and our livelihoods,” Boden said. “The Action Center allows us to respond quickly, rally allies, raise awareness and fight back before the damage can be done.”
In the announcement, FSC said that while the organization “continues to employ lobbyists at the federal level, state legislatures have traditionally been difficult to monitor.”
“FSC has been instrumental in stopping or slowing bills like California’s SB435 or the EARN IT Act in Congress, but timing is essential in responding effectively to unconstitutional or discriminatory legislation before it’s too late,” FSC added in the announcement.
FSC added that the organization will host a webinar for members showing the new tool, and how to use it, after the midterm election. In the meantime, industry members can access the tool by visiting action.freespeechcoalition.com.
