CANOGA PARK, CA — Titan Media attorney Gill Sperlein and XBIZ president Alec Helmy will join six incumbent and five other members of the Free Speech Coalition board of directors, according to a press release distributed by the trade association today.Returning incumbents are FSC board chair Jeffrey Douglas, attorney Reed Lee, AVN editor Mark Kernes, Topco sales associate Lynn Swanson, AEBN vice and NakedSword Network president Tim Valenti and industry veteran Mara Epstein.

Joining the board are Gill Sperlein, whose previous work has included anti-piracy litigation and successfully pursuing infringement of Titan Media’s content as in-house council.

Helmy is best known as the publisher of XBIZ World and XBIZ Premiere magazines and the XBIZ.com industry news website. Additionally, his company hosts both the XBIZ Summer Forum in Las Vegas and the XBIZ Conference in Los Angeles.

“FSC and the industry as a whole have a great deal of challenges in store for 2009,” FSC director Diane Duke observes in the press release. “I am confident that with our 2009 board we have the right people in place to not only face these challenges, but also to take advantage of any opportunities that may help our members and the adult entertainment industry as a whole.”

Free Speech Coalition members participated in the voting process for the two-year positions by casting either online or mail-in ballots.
