The concept of a metaverse is new, with the term having been sourced to science fiction literature from the early 1990s and 2000s. Think of books like Ready Player One as an example of AR in action in written fiction. A metaverse is a combination of virtual, extended, and augmented reality platforms that permit users from all over the world to access a metaphor of the real world in an augmented, 3D view of the world.
Virtual reality is becoming increasingly intertwined with gaming, as dozens of mainstream video game studios have developed editions of their top releases, like critically acclaimed The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or smash hit Minecraft, for use on virtual reality-enabled operating systems. To access these worlds and their experiences, a headset like an Oculus or a Google Cardboard is required.
VR porn operates in the same way.
