CYBERSPACE – Digital Playground took home 6 trophies in this year’s Empire Awards, the highest number of awards won by any studio in this year’s competition.Island Fever, which stars popular Digital Playground contract stars Jesse Jane and Devon, won in four categories, including Best All-Sex DVD, Best DVD Video, Best DVD Commentary, and the coveted Viewer’s Choice Award. Loaded, also starring Jesse Jane, took home the award for Best DVD Audio. Digital Playground also won Best Overall Studio.

According to JT Smith, Marketing Manager for Adult DVD Empire, the Viewer’s Choice Award is the competition’s biggest honor.

“The ‘Viewers Choice Award’ is the most powerful award we give,” Smith said. “We select the nominees, but our customers make the final call. They vote on the DVD they liked the best – period.”

Island Fever had 69% of the vote in the Viewer’s Choice Award category, while its closest competitor managed only 10% of the vote.

According to Smith, quality of product and fantastic marketing made Digital Playground the favorite in the Best Overall Studio award category.

“Not only do they create a great product, they also do an excellent job marketing their girls and releases,” Smith said. “Plus, Digital Playground was a pioneer into the realm of DVD many years ago, when DVD was a brand new format. Now everyone releases DVDs, but DP was one of the first studios to produce movies meant to be on DVD, not just transfer their VHS release onto DVD.”

Samantha Lewis, President of Digital Playground, expressed her gratitude for the award and the solid efforts of her coworkers.

“I’d like to thank my partner [and company founder] Joone for his technological insights that keep our company ahead of the game,” Lewis said. “This year he took our Island Fever series to the next level implementing HD and the results have been staggering. I’m honored to have the hottest, sexiest girls in the world, Jesse Jane, Devon and Teagan Presley under contract, and I’d like to thank Adult DVD Empire and everyone who participated in the voting process.”

Other studios who took home trophies included Vivid, Wicked Pictures, Digital Sin, Devils Film, Private, and Elegant Angel. Wicked took home five trophies, including the Editor’s Choice Award and the Best Feature DVD award.
