CHATSWORTH, CA – Adult video production studio Digital Playground has announced a Pirates display contest for retail stores worldwide, with a grand prize of $10,000, according to a press release issued by the company.In order to participate, stores must create an in-store display with a pirate theme featuring Digital Playground’s Pirates, the smash-hit, CGI-laden title from much-celebrated Digital Playground director Joone.
“We are still experiencing an overwhelming response to Pirates and we want to keep the buzz going,” says Digital Playground president, Samantha Lewis. “Our new R-rated version of Pirates will be hitting mainstream distribution channels on July 11 and this exposure will solicit a huge amount of brand new customers to the XXX version.”
The grand prize winner of the display contest will receive $10,000 cash, with second and third place entries receiving $5,000 and $2,500, respectively. The timing of the R-rated Pirates release, and the corresponding contest, is part of a larger marketing strategy designed to benefit both Digital Playground and its retailers, according to Lewis.
“I want all of our retailers to capitalize on the hype that is generating from the upcoming theatrical release of Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest in July,” Lewis says. “Our retailers can turn a huge profit with a special Pirates-themed display.”
According to the Digital Playground release, photo entries will be accepted from June 1st to July 31st, 2006 and “all visitors to the website, entrants, friends, and fans alike” will be eligible to vote for their favorite display. Digital Playground will accept one vote for each unique email address entered. Entrants are asked to include store name and location with their display photos and all participating stores will be featured on Digital Playground’s website.
Digital Playground will announce the three prize winners on August 1st.
