Digital Environment Provides Common Ground for Adult and Mainstream Dialogue

CANOGA PARK, CA — The Free Speech Coalition (FSC) has collected together an assortment of adult and mainstream media experts who will tips on “How to Survive and Thrive in the Digital Environment” during a day-long November 18th seminar at the Sheraton University, in Universal City, CA.As announced in an FSC press release, speakers for the seminar include Vivid Entertainment Group’s Steven Hirsch, AEBN’s Scott Coffman, NBC-Universal’s Steve Kang, and EMI Music North America’s Alasdair McMullen.

Kang is senior counsel for anti-piracy legal affairs for NBC-Universal, while McMullen serves as senior vice-president of business affairs for EMI Music North America.

Topics will range from protecting copyright to fighting piracy, living in a tube site world to exploring new media platforms; all topics of importance to contemporary content producers.

“This is the first summit of its kind that brings the best speakers from mainstream entertainment together with the best of adult,” FSC executive director Diane Duke observed.

Further blending the worlds of mainstream and adult in the digital age will be Dean Garfield, executive vice-president and CSO for the Motion Picture Association of America, Jennifer Pariser, senior council in global litigation for Sony Music Entertainment, David Kaplan, president of Warner Bros. Studios’ anti-piracy division, and Gill Sperlein, in-house counsel for Titan Media.

In addition to panel discussions, attendees will have the opportunity to hear James Griffin of Warner Music Group give a keynote luncheon speech and listen in as legal representatives from Jenner & Block LLP and Mitchell, Silberberg and Krupp LLP discuss issues related to both adult and mainstream entertainment.

Duke will address conference at both its 9:00 am opening and 5:00pm closing.
