LOS ANGELES – A program that allows webmasters to create and manage branded online sex toy stores has launched a contest offering affiliates as much as $350 for innovative website designs.
The basic rules are simple: Use the tools available at MyFreeWebsite.com to customize and launch an adult product store. Before midnight PT on Nov. 1, submit the URL to the completed design as a comment on this Google+ post, then sit back and wait for the announcement of winners, due Dec. 3.
Three winners will receive store credits of $100, $250 or $350 plus a permanent link on the affiliate program’s homepage. In addition, winners will receive promotion in the company’s marketing materials and on social media networks.
Whether or not they win the contest, all affiliates earn 20-25 percent commissions on sales through their stores.
“I have seen so many great stores built with our system that I wanted a way to reward some of them with more than commission,” said MyFreeWebsite owner “Sex Toy Dave” Levine said, adding that existing designs are welcome as entries, too.
Levine said the judges have specific criteria in mind:
- Designs that get people to buy are better than ones that have great color and graphics but do not guide the shopper to the check out.
- Content that is clearly SEO-friendly will be rated higher than interesting content that isn’t designed well for Google’s index.
- Social media marketing, especially that which encourages consumers to weigh in about the contest on the official Google+ post, counts.
- Originality, consistency of branding and clever niche concepts are high on the judges’ wish lists.
