YNOT – Evidently it’s not just true in old show tunes. In the case of internet porn, according to HotMovies.com, “everything old is new again.”

After seeing extraordinary success in 2010 with Scoundrels, Star Angel and Foxtrot — the three classic titles that launched the video-on-demand provider’s Command Cinema program — HotMovies follows with the first of 2011’s limited-time engagements: Cecil Howard’s 1981 release, Platinum Paradise.

Director of Business Development James Cybert called the title “one of Howard’s finest and most sought-after cinematic achievements.” Howard licensed the rights to HotMovies for one month only, beginning May 1. The filmmaker does not plan to re-release the title on DVD or extend the engagement, Cybert said.

Platinum Paradise stars Kandi Barbour, Samantha Fox, Vanessa Del Rio, Merle Michaels and Christie Ford in a series of vignettes that follow the girls of an escort service for a single day. In one scene, Del Rio coaxes stud Eric Edwards into orgasm through talk alone. The unedited scene stands as a testament to Edwards’ focus and prowess and showcases Del Rio as more than just the ultimate Latina sex bomb of her day. The lady could act.

“This [movie] was made back in the day when a big porn movie consisted of something more imaginative than a pastiche of average sex and hackneyed one-liners set in the context of a well-known television program,” Cybert said. “It features amazing sex and believable dialog, and the set up is both original and genre-defining.”

Upon its release in 1981, Platinum Paradise gained instant recognition from reviewers and fans alike, earning the highest possible ratings from Adam Film World and Hustler. At the time, reviewer Jim Holiday wrote the movie “could well go down as [Howard’s] signature film.”

Howard remains proud of the work.

“This is a great movie,” he said. “It’s a real film with quality performances from all the stars, both in the sack and out.

“HotMovies viewers have shown a lot of appreciation for everything we’ve showed them,” Howard added. “I can’t wait to see the response to Platinum Paradise. Comparing my two similar award-winning movies, I would say Platinum Paradise is better than Babylon Pink.”
