ISRAEL – Who says kids should have all the fun? In addition to the traditional King Jr. kids’ meals with the obligatory toy inside, on Valentine’s Day Burger King Israel will offer a special adults meal that contains a toy of a wholly different kind.
The Adults Meal, available only in Israel after 6 p.m. on Valentine’s Day, contains two Whoppers, two orders of fries, two beers … and “a romantic adult toy.” Purchasers must prove they are at least 18 years of age.
Designed by the Leo Burnett Israel advertising agency, the promotion asks “Kids have got their ‘Kid’s Meal.’ But what about grownups? Adults? Shouldn’t they have their own meal too? At least on Valentine’s?”
We’re just guessing, but from the looks of the toys in the ad, Fifty Shades Darker may have served as inspiration. The highly anticipated sequel to 2015’s much-maligned (if box-office golden) Fifty Shades of Grey debuted over the weekend, raking in $97.7 million worldwide.
Meanwhile, in famously romantic France, Burger King has decided to walk on the wild side with a Valentine’s Cup. The container, filled with the lovers’ choice of carbonated high-fructose corn syrup, has a lid with two straws. Ooh-la-la!
Burger King is only one of several fast-food joints going all-in on romance for the day that celebrates love (or lust, evidently, in BK’s case). White Castle and Waffle House, both fast-food royalty in the American South, are accepting Valentine’s Day dinner reservations.
