Recently, I had the opportunity to review several products from the Bettie Page Official Pleasure Products Collection created by Lovehoney.
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past 60 years, Page was a popular pinup model during the 1950s. She became known as the “Queen of Pinups” and was ardently embraced by the BDSM/fetish community because of her notorious work with Irving Klaw as a bondage model. Since then, she has been emulated by many models wanting to recreate her iconic look.
Page’s brand is well suited for a collection of kink-ware products ranging from bondage and spanking implements to pleasure vibes. Being a fetish photographer for several years and a huge fan of the Page style and retro pinup photography, I was psyched to review the collection.
To begin with, the presentation of the products in gorgeous black collectible gift boxes is great for gift-giving and oh-so-sexy. The inside cover of each box is printed with various pin-up photos of Page wearing her fetish look. Each product also comes with two cute collector items: a Bettie Page card similar to a baseball card and a cute, sexy little key chain. I really love the attention to detail on the packaging and the little add-ons like these that make the products not only fun to play with, but also collectible for Bettie Page fans.
The products themselves are very well made using lush materials: faux leather, velvety linings and silky black satin with quilted stitching and metal hardware.
The Bettie Page Picture This Spanking Bat (image courtesy FataleFemmes Fotos) is totally boss Daddy-o, you dig? The paddle has two sides: one with a classic Page fetish pinup photo; the other covered in quilted black faux leather. A black hanging ribbon adorns the end of the handle.
At 10 ½ inches in length and 5 inches wide across the spanking surface, the paddle is quite broad with lots of surface area for saucy bottoms. The fabric is softly quilted on one side for a thud-y whack and smooth and firm on the photo side for more of a stinging slap. Perfect for beginners interested in getting into light sensual spanking.
The Bettie Page Collar and Leash Set are the cat’s meow! The collar is made from quilted faux leather in a crisscross design with velvety material inside. It is very comfortable to wear; not too wide or too thin, and its 13- to 17-inch length should fit most women. The collar fastens with a metal buckle in back and features a pretty D-ring in front to attach the leash.
This product is perfect for puppy play or D/S collar-and-leash play, as well as just making a fashion statement all by itself.
The Bettie Page Bad Girl Blackout Blindfold is the bomb and sure to remove your inhibitions so your inner bad girl can come out to play. Made of synthetic silk, the blindfold has a smooth, satin-like finish that feels exquisite on the body. The part that covers the eyes is thickly padded and quilted with faux leather, so feels soft and comforting. Silken 54-inch-long tethers allow you to tie the blindfold as tightly as needed.
The inner wire frame molds perfectly to the contours of any face, so the person wearing the mask is plunged into a dark sea of velvety blackness. The blindfold works better than any other I have used at creating total darkness while remaining sensually lush and comfortable against the skin. The Bettie Page Wild ‘N’ Willing Faux Leather Wrist Cuffs are peachy-keen, jelly bean. Like the matching collar and leash set, the Wild ‘N’ Willing Wrist Cuffs are made of quilted black faux leather and lined with plush velvet. They are super-comfy and make a nice snug fit, being adjustable between 5.7 inches and 9 inches with large metal buckle closures. The cuffs are 10.5 inches in length and feature sturdy D-rings that rotate 360 degrees. A 7-inch length chain connects them together with quick-release clips.
While the D-rings seem sturdy enough, you wouldn’t be able to use them for suspension bondage. They’re more for light, fun play. Like the collar, cuffs could be used as a fashionista accessory as well, if you’re brave enough to wear them in public. Perfect for couples who are just getting into light bondage.
